Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia, is near the Austrian border. After a disastrous earthquake in 1898, the city was rebuilt in beautiful baroque style. The Slovenian architect, Josef Plecnik, enriched the city in 1939 with the Tromstovje or Triple Bridge located in the center of the town where the river bends. Ljubljana’s museums cluster around the Slovenian Parliament, the modern art gallery, and the international center.
Zagreb, the capital of Croatia, is the largest city, after Belgrade, in the former Yugoslavia. With its 4,800,000 inhabitants, this beautiful Medieval city is located just 6 hours from Aviano. The city was built along the Sava River and is divided into two parts. Zagreb is most renowned for Primitive and Native Art.
